Members of the Timpanogos Nation Council have been working with internationally and locally renowned sculptor Gary Lee Price to design a monument honoring the Timpanogos people.

The planned monument will feature a 20+ foot-tall statue of Chief Walkara, with his hands raised in prayer to the Creator. Chief Walkara is one of the grandsons of Chief Turunianchi, whom Fransiscan Fathers Francisco Atanasio Domínguez and Silvestre Vélez de Escalante met during their expedition through Utah Valley in 1776.

Gary has made a beautiful clay model of the statue at a smaller scale and cast it to prepare for casting the full size statue.

Representatives of the Timpanogos Nation have been guiding him through this process to ensure the portrayal is culturally accurate and appropriate.
